Focusing on the KAG’s current exhibitions, programs include art camps, interactive tours, activities and workshops that encourage self-expression and experimentation while learning about art techniques, basic design concepts and a variety of media. The State of the Forests with Dr. Rachel Holt

On March 15 at 2pm (PST), you are invited to join us online for an enriching presentation by ecologist Dr. Rachel Holt. Learn about the diversity of British Columbia forests, and current policy shifts that may signal a change in approach to forest management. Following her presentation, Dr. Holt will have time to answer questions from the audience.

Artist’s Talk with Terrance Houle
Join us online for an artist’s talk with multidisciplinary Indigenous artist Terrance Houle.
Terrance Houle is an internationally recognized interdisciplinary media artist and a member of the Blood Tribe. Involved with Aboriginal communities all his life, he has travelled to reservations throughout North America participating in Powwow dancing along with his Native ceremonies. Houle utilizes at his discretion performance, photography, video/film, music, andpainting. Likewise, Houle's practice includes tools of mass dissemination such as billboards and vinyl bus signage. Houle maintains his practice and lives in Calgary, Alberta.
This talk is offered in support of our ongoing youth programs, The Fierce Unicorn Shadow Masterminds Collective Art Series with Chris Bose and the LAB Rats. It is made possible in part with support from the Edwina and Paul Heller Memorial Fund with the Vancouver Foundation.
PD Day Art Camp // December 6
We offer day camps throughout the year on non-instructional days; each one is unique and connected to the current exhibition. This month, campers will explore art works by artists Diyan Achjadi, Naoko Fukumaru, and Tomoyo Ihaya through interactive tours in the Gallery and three studio workshops.
Almost There: Artists’ Talk and Virtual Workshop with Load na Dito
Join us online with exhibiting artist collective Load na Dito and curator Makiko Hara for an artists’ talk and virtual workshop. Over the course of an hour and a half, we’ll explore their collaborative art practice and engage in a virtual workshop where, using Zoom and Google Jamboard as communication tools, Load na Dito invites everyone to join a shared process of mapping personal experiences, feelings, observations, and local knowledge, prompted by the word home.
Artist’s Talk with UJINO
Join us online with exhibiting artist UJINO and guest curator Makiko Hara for a special online screening of UJINO’s newest work, HOME MOVIE, and a conversation with the artist about his practice.
Exploring Identity & History through Exhibition: Panel Discussion with Diyan Achjadi, Makiko Hara, Jana Sasaki, and Craig Willms
Join us online for a lively conversation between artists Diyan Achjadi and Jana Sasaki and curators Makiko Hara and Craig Willms, facilitated by Mirella Ntahonsigaye, Museum Educator at the Kamloops Museum and Archives. Over the course of an hour and a half, Ntahonsigaye will engage the artists and curators in a discussion about their process and practice, considered specifically through the lenses of identity, history, and exhibition.
Artist's Talk with Mark Salvatus
Join us online with exhibiting artist Mark Salvatus and guest curator Makiko Hara to learn about Salvatus’ art practice. The talk will highlight works now part of Whose Stories? including his ongoing research project Museo ng Banahaw, through which Salvatus explores the symbolism and cultural narratives of a well known holy site, Mt. Banahaw in his hometown of Lucban.
Artist's Talk with Tomoyo Ihaya
Join us online with artist Tomoyo Ihaya and curator Makiko Hara for a conversation about Ihaya’s art practice. The conversation will highlight works now part of Whose Stories? including her ongoing projects Drawings from Dharamsala and Eyes, Water, Fire, and will explore how empathy informs her work.
Artist’s Talk with Amy Modahl
Join us online for an artist’s talk with Amy Modahl to learn about the process behind how she created her work currently on view in The Cube. Modahl will speak on exploring the materiality and aesthetics of text in relation to her practice.

Shake it Up! Creative Strategies and Overcoming Artist Block
Join us online for a virtual workshop with the Laboratory for Spatial Bemusement! Participants will learn quick and helpful strategies for getting out of a creative block and building ideas towards a new creative project, and will also have the opportunity to share ideas on how they can overcome creative challenges.

Art Nerds Book Club
Art Nerds will spend this season exploring two readings selected by exhibiting artist Scott Massey, both of which ask us to think about photography in expanded, philosophical terms.
