Artist's Talk with Tomoyo Ihaya

Thursday, October 21, 6:00 pm (PST) // Friday, October 22, 10:00 am (JST)
All ages, FREE
Location: ZOOM

Join us online with artist Tomoyo Ihaya and curator Makiko Hara for a conversation about Ihaya’s art practice. The conversation will highlight works now part of Whose Stories? including her ongoing projects Drawings from Dharamsala and Eyes, Water, Fire, and will explore how empathy informs her work.

Born and raised in Tsu City, Mie, Japan, Tomoyo Ihaya has been a resident of Canada since 2000, and currently lives and works in Vancouver, BC. After studying studio arts at a number of universities in Canada, Ihaya received a Master of Fine Arts from University of Alberta, Edmonton, AB, in 2002. Her practice draws on an interest in other cultures and a conviction about the connection between art and life.

Whose Stories? is curated by Makiko Hara and is on view at the Kamloops Art Gallery until December 31, 2021.
