This exhibition celebrates several years of collaborative programming by Wuméc r
Cqweqwelútn-kt Community Society and BUSH Gallery. Gatherings focused on building skills in basketry, hide tanning, and building language using a seasonal approach, knowledge of the environment, and Secwépemc stories as a guide.

With a focus on land-based methods and artistic practices with Secwépemc language we have supported a group of artists to learn harvest, preparation of materials, and project completion for cedar root baskets, hide tanning, moccasin making, quill work, and birch bark baskets.

In a time of climate change and increasing challenges to Indigenous ways of life, investing in practices that embed knowledge and art within the land around us is a transformational act. We share these practices to build a future for our families, cultures and languages, Secwepemcúlecw wel me7 yews wel me7 yews.
