The Black Canvas: Honouring Black Brilliance presents a collection of artworks by local Black artists that celebrate Black identity, culture, resilience, and creative expression.

Organized by Hardley Williams, this exhibition brings together diverse artistic voices that explore heritage, storytelling, and lived experience through powerful visual narratives. The Black Canvas: Honouring Black Brilliance creates a space for reflection and dialogue — inviting the community to engage with art that honours the past, reflects the present, and shapes the future.

There is also a wall of community artwork created during Honouring Black Brilliance Across Generations, a multigenerational art program that was hosted at the Kamloops Art Gallery celebrating Black creativity, stories, and cultural contributions across all ages.

Organized by the Caribbean Diaspora Society of Kamloops, Unique Get Together Society (UGTS), and TRU’s Office of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Anti-Racism, with support from the Kamloops Art Gallery and TRU Visual Arts.
