Requiems

Jim Logan

SAW Centre, Ottawa, Ontario
May 1 to August 15, 2026

The Kamloops Art Gallery is pleased to support Requiems: Jim Logan, presented by SAW from May 1 to August 15, 2026, through the loan of six works by Jim Logan.

The most comprehensive survey of Logan’s work to date, Requiems brings together major works spanning four decades, highlighting the evolution and influence of one of Canada’s most distinctive artistic voices.

On loan from the Kamloops Art Gallery are Shhhh! (1993), Look Out Kids, Here Comes Another Kind of Small Pox (1992), and four paintings from The Classical Aboriginal Series – The Four Davids (1993): David Warrior, David Tobacco, David Fencepost, and David Whiteman. These works exemplify Logan’s incisive visual language and enduring relevance.

Logan’s practice addresses themes that remain deeply resonant today, including the legacy of residential schools, cultural resilience, and the strength of Indigenous communities. Through a compelling blend of narrative and figurative approaches, sharp social commentary, and provocative wit, his work has had a lasting impact on Indigenous art.

Requiems: Jim Logan offers a renewed opportunity to engage with the depth, complexity, and lasting impact of his work.
