Paul Walde: Glacial Resonance
This full-colour monograph was produced following Paul Walde’s solo exhibition at the Kamloops Art Gallery in 2023 and his solo exhibitions at McIntosh Gallery, Western University, and Grand Forks Art Gallery in 2024.
Beautifully designed by Mark Timmings, the book includes a Foreword by Margaret Chrumka and Lisa Daniels and texts by Mark Cheetham and Stephanie Smith that explore Paul Walde’s artistic responses to the overwhelming scale of climate change and his enduring interrogation of the relationships between art, nature, and spectacle throughout his decades long practice. In an insightful conversation with Kamloops Art Gallery Curator Charo Neville, Walde shares reflections on his practice from early to more recent work.
Filled with vivid spreads of final gallery installations and on-location works in progress, this book captures Paul Walde’s longstanding inquiries into the intersections between music, performance, and the natural world. Along with stunning imagery, the monograph illustrates the consistent conceptual underpinning that emerges from Walde’s rigorous research.
