Oonark’s Symmetry

Tour & Felt Appliqué Workshop
Saturday, February 24
2:00 to 4:00 pm
Ages: 16+

Join us at the Kamloops Art Gallery for an interactive tour of ᑕᑯᒃᓴᐅᔪᒻᒪᕆᒃ Double Vision followed by a hands-on workshop in our studios. KAG Art Instructor Jyelle Vogel will lead explorations of the materials, techniques, and themes of works by three artists, Jessie Oonark, Janet Kigusiuq, and Victoria Mamnguqsualuk with a focus on Oonark’s textile works.

Jessie Oonark’s prominent use of symmetry has been described as a kind of “double vision.” In the studio, participants will experiment with this concept of “double vision,” using felt and thread to create their own artworks that employ symmetry as a central design principal.

No previous experience is necessary, all materials are provided.
