FEBRUARY SESSION
Art as Activism
February 10, 17, 24
We invite young artists to join us after school on Fridays to develop their artistic expression, gain skills in hands-on workshops in the studio, and engage with our exhibitions through in-gallery activities and discussions. Each month will focus on a different medium and theme, allowing students to explore the featured medium in depth over the course of the month.
Students will spend the month of February exploring art as activism and learning how to develop a “body of work.” Engaging with, and taking inspiration from, Paul Walde’s exhibition Glacial Resonance, students will choose a subject that resonates with them and express this through art. Over the course of a month, students will learn how to develop and expand on their subject, making several art works that come together as a whole to create a body of work. At the end of the month, students will present their completed artworks in a celebratory exhibition in our studios.
Exhibitions on view:
Paul Walde: Glacial Resonance
Lucas Morneau: Queer Newfoundland Hockey League (QNHL)
