EXPLORATIONS: A SUMMER OF ART
Open Gallery
August 25 to September 25, 2022
This summer, young artists explored a variety of artistic mediums and practices that encouraged them to step outside their comfort zone. Through in-depth examinations in the Gallery and in our studios, participants learned about artists in the exhibition Reading the Land: Ten Years of Collecting, including Tania Willard, George Raab, Ann Kipling, and Germaine Koh. Using techniques demonstrated by these artists, students experimented with creating their own relief prints, drawings, and paintings.
Led by Simone Olanski, KAG Summer Art Instructor, students engaged with historical and contemporary art, explored their community through field trips, played drawing games, learned new and exciting ways to create art, and pursued each day with enthusiasm and laughter.
Presenting artwork from each young artist, Explorations: A Summer of Art, celebrates a summer full of learning, creativity, and fun. Artworks are grouped by medium, including watercolour, ink drawings, single and multi-layer relief prints, and acrylic paintings.
